ABOUT

About the event:

The University of Nebraska has published Dr. Larry C. Skogen's two-volume set To Educate American Indians: Selected Writings from the National Educational Association's Department of Indian Education, 1900-1904 and 1905-1909. The first volume received the Western History Association's 2025 Dwight L. Smith (ABC-CLIO) Award for significant bibliography or research tool.

In this presentation, Dr. Skogen will share the research, writing, and university publishing journeys that resulted in this two-volume set. He will also provide an overview of lessons learned about the federal government's motivation in developing an American Indian school system.

This lecture is a Bismarck State College Bringing Humanities to Life event.
