About this class: This course is about the “mystic chords of memory” that have shaped the American story from the time of the Founding to today. We will become acquainted with the people, events, and ideas from American political history and shows how their stories can point us toward wise and responsible citizenship today. The study of history and politics are important foundations of an education appropriate for a free people, since they form students in cultural competency by showing that human beings are more than mere products of their time and that they can shape the world around them in hopeful ways.

Instructor bio: Kevin Walker received his Ph.D. from Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, CA. He is currently an Associate Professor of Politics at the University of Mary. He lives in Mandan with his wife and children.
